People Aren't All Bad
2012 | 4 mins | Drama Directed by Matthew Hashiguchi Eighty-eight year old Yutaka Kobayashi shares his struggles as a Japanese American before and leading up to the World War II Japanese American Internment Camps. Surprisingly, it was during this dark period in his life that he experienced compassion and kindness from where he least expected it, a gun tower guard from within the Topaz Internment Camp. |
The Commitment

Chan Inspired by real events, The Commitment is a moving and heartfelt film about Robert and Ethan, an interracial gay couple who have been chosen from a pool of hopeful adoptive parents by Victoria, a shy and very pregnant Asian birthmother. Susan, the adoption social worker who facilitates their first meeting, helps the trio navigate through the awkward but often times humorous discussions of race, sexual orientation, and outlandish baby names. Gradually, Victoria begins to open up and eventually forges a bond with Robert and Ethan. When the unexpected happens, however, Robert's neuroticism and Ethan's anxiety about fatherhood threaten their relationship. |

Swayed by the prospect of attention from both her mother and a cute boy, Lenny concedes to the bleaching process at the price of her identity, and possibly her health. Beauty, race, and American identity clash in this 'dark' comedy as Lenny struggles to reclaim herself. |

My 2009 Experience

I will use the art of making sushi (my father was a sushi chef) to symbolize family harmony and my values. I want to share my experience with you, and to show that within a year, anything can happen and yet life still goes on. |
